Hannibal Lecter will end his maneating ways as the off-Broadway parody Silence! The Musical has set a December 30 closing date. Based on the Oscar-winning film The Silence of the Lambs, Silence! The Musical opened on July 9, 2011 and will have played eight previews and 447 regular performances.
In Silence! The Musical, rookie FBI agent Clarice Starling matches wits with the brilliant but insane cannibal, Dr. Hannibal Lecter, in order to catch the mysterious serial killer known only as Buffalo Bill. Clarice faces her own demons while racing the clock to unlock Lecter’s clues before another innocent girl is killed and skinned by Buffalo Bill. Silence! features a book by Hunter Bell, music and lyrics by Jon and Al Kaplan, and direction and choreography by Christopher Gattelli.
The closing cast features David Ayers, Pamela Bob, Harry Bouvy, Ashlee Dupré, Natalie Joy Johnson, Howard Kaye, James Moye, Topher Nuccio, Ronica V. Reddick, Sam Rogers, Kimberly Stern, and Doug Trapp.
Silence! first premiered at the 2005 Fringe Festival before transferring to off-Broadway’s PS 122 in 2011. In July 2012, the show moved to Times Square’s Elektra Theatre. The show spawned a successful Los Angeles production running at the Hayworth Theatre through December 9.
